Solar Powered Eco Friendly Tooth Brush

A toothbrush that does not need tooth paste to clean. Instead, it uses light to create electrons that will work as your toothpaste.

Solar Toothbrush

Dr. Kunio Komiyama and his colleague Dr. Gerry Uswak at University of Saskatchewan has developed this new toothbrush that works just by creating electricity from solar energy.

The brush neck has a solar panel that generates electrons under sunlight. These electrons interact with acid in your mouth to destroy bacteria and plaque, which are the important causes of any dental disease.

This brush requires as much sunlight as your solar powered calculator needs to properly show the digits. In short, better the light better would be the cleaning activity.

Dr. Komiyama is testing this toothbrush among 150 teenagers, whose bacteria levels would indicate the quality of cleansing.

  1. Solar powered toothbrush? I never thought it would be possible. So basically, for this to work at its fullest potential, we really need to brush directly under the sun? I think if I use this toothbrush, I'll somehow miss using toothpastes.
