Play iPod Content in HD with Creative Xdock HD

Creative last week announced a new device for the iPods called Xdock HD. This device helps you play your iPod content in high definition.

Creative Xdock HD

The Xdock HD upconverts your regular iPod video in to 720p or 1080i resolutions to provide more detailed video playback. Creative accomplishes this feat by use of a proprietary upsampling technology.

The audio features of Xdock includes upsampling of regular audio to Xtreme Fidelity (X-Fi) and comes the regular X-Fi features like X-Fi Crystallizer (which upsamples regular audio to 24bit to re-creates some lost frequencies due to compression) and X-Fi CMSS 3D.(which converts your stereo audio to multi-channel one)

For easier navigation while plugged in to TV, Xdock HD creates a more feature rich menu from your regular iPod menu. This menu is easily controllable with accompanying remote control.

Xdock connects to your HDTV using HDMI connectivity. It also provides additional connectivity options through composite video out. It connects to DTS receiver through the optical lineout and to analogue amplifier with analogue output.

Xdock HD costs $399 and comes with one X-Fi Wireless receiver to connect to a pair of remote speakers. Additional wireless receivers will be sold at $99 per unit.
